Helping A Loved One/Colleague Overcome Hopelessness

At times, life can be overwhelming.
It’s when you go on and on, doing the same thing every day.
Eventually, it becomes redundant; it lacks purpose; it fails to connect. And what’s left behind is this sense of hopelessness—as if you’ve simply given in, and resigned to your fate.
The sense of being unable to achieve what you wanted for so long can put you in a difficult state of mind. But there’s a lot you can do about it.
This feeling stems from resignation. It’s when you decide to stop trying. Ultimately, it’s important to realize: it’s you. And you can take back control.
Have a friend who has given up? Be the shining light in their life.

Don’t Forget—All That You Feel Is Thought Based

As human beings, we constantly do one thing with our mind—we think.
Here is how the process of thinking works:
· One part of the mind is used to process rational thoughts using words
· Another part is used to think in numbers and symbols and process comparative formulas
· Another part is used to visualize thoughts in the form of images
· The fourth quadrant is used to consider things with emotions and feelings

When you think positively, you initiate a process of free flowing positivity across all parts of the brain.
Don’t forget that hopelessness is still a feeling and it is what depresses you. When consoling a loved one, make them hopeful, project hopeful thoughts in their mind.
At times the negative feelings of hopelessness can stem from suggestions we come across in daily life. Particularly people who watch too much TV and discouraging newscasts end up believing that they live in sad world. Consequently, they start thinking negatively.
At other times, being around perfectionists or those who are fond of passing negative criticism can really bring your hopes down. Teach your loved ones to distance themselves from such individuals and such suggestions.
